11)Selection Criteria:
Written Examination:
The CMS Examination consists of two papers, each carrying 250 marks and covering various medical subjects. The exam is objective type with multiple-choice questions.
Paper I focuses on topics like General Medicine and Paediatrics.
Paper II includes Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine.
Personality Test (Interview):
Candidates who qualify in the written examination are called for a Personality Test which carries 100 marks.
The interview assesses the general knowledge and ability of the candidates in the fields of their academic study and also in the nature of a personality test to assess the candidate's intellectual curiosity, integrity, and other social traits.
Medical Examination:
Selected candidates must undergo a medical examination as prescribed by the UPSC before the final appointment.
Final Selection:
The final merit list is prepared based on the total marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination and the Personality Test.
This multi-tiered selection process ensures that the candidates are not only academically proficient but also fit to handle the responsibilities that come with the roles in the medical services under the government.
